Benidorm City Council, with its mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, at the head, has observed a minute of silence this afternoon in memory of the woman who was murdered by her partner last Sunday.
This is the twenty-ninth case of sexist violence so far this year. On this occasion, the victim was a 36-year-old woman of Russian origin living in Malaga who was allegedly murdered by her husband, 53, in the nearby town of Rincón de la Victoria.
The number of women murdered by their partners or ex-partners in Spain since the statistics began in 2003 now stands at 1,107.
From the Department of Equality, all women who may be at risk are reminded that the Benidorm City Council places at their disposal specialized personnel in gender violence. Likewise, remember the existence of the telephone number 016 that attends 24 hours a day, 265 days a year in 52 languages to all people who need it.
