Benidorm prepares a wide program of events to celebrate the Day of the Valencian Community

Benidorm prepara un amplio programa de actos para celebrar el Día de la Comunidad Valenciana

Bárbara Alemany Barceló will receive the Cultural Distinction Benidorm 2017 in the institutional plenary that will take place at Plaza del Castillo

The Park of Foietes will host the appointment of Avenida 9 d'Octubre, along with concerts, parades, traditional products market and theater

Benidorm will celebrate the 9th of October with the most extensive programming organized so far by Benidorm City Council and the Commission of Major Patron Saint Festivities, as highlighted this morning by the mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, during the presentation of the acts prepared to commemorate the Day of the Valencian Community. The mayor explained the details of this program together with the Councilors of Culture and Fiestas, Ana Pellicer and Jesús Carrobles, respectively, and the Commission President, Antonio Vicente Fuster.

The mayor stressed that the City Council had increased the planned institutional programming compared to previous years, and will be concentrated over the next weekend culminating next Monday, celebration of the Valencian Community Day.

The events will begin on Friday the 6th, at 8:00 p.m. with the appointment of "9 d'Octubre" Avenue, approved by the last plenary session, and to which the mayor invited all the citizens who want to attend the act. The act will take place in Foietes Park and once the plaque with the name of the new Avenue is unveiled, the official authorities will go to the auditorium of Foietes Park to attend the concert that will be offered by "La Nova" Musical Society of Benidorm, musical that has its school and soothes in the neighborhood of Foietes where it was born.

On October 7, at 11 a.m., the inauguration of the traditional Market of the Commission of Festes Majors Patronals will be inaugurated in Martínez Alejos street and Gambo street. On the 8th, Sunday, it will be the turn of the Musical Society "L'Illa de Benidorm" which will offer a concert in Gambo Street that will start at 6 pm and then will be held a parade with animation by the Cultural Association l'Esportí.

The Valencian Community Day, October 9, will start at 11 am with the celebration of the Institutional Plenary at Plaza del Castillo, which will deliver the Cultural Distinction Benidorm 2017 to Bárbara Alemany Barceló. "A prize," said the mayor, "more than deserved and that comes to recognize her career and contribution to the language, culture and traditions of the people of Benidorm and the Valencian people." In this act will be the Unión Musical of Benidorm the one in charge to interpret the hymn of Spain during the raising of flags, and those of Benidorm and the Valencian Community at the conclusion of the act. This year, for the first time, among the attendees will be distributed leaflets printed with the lyrics of both hymns. Then the official visit to the 9th October Traditional Fair will be held, where the queens and the her court of honor will dance the traditional "peuet". The program will conclude in the afternoon, at 6 pm, in Gambo Street, with the performance of the work "La Conquesta de València a l'any 1238", by students from CEIP "Ausiàs March" in Benidorm.

Antonio Vicente Fuster, said that the 9 th October Traditional Fair will consist of more than 30 stalls, all with typical products of the Valencian Community and which can be found from Táberna sausages, chocolates from La Vila Joiosa or Polop de la Marina pottery. The Fair will have a bar at popular prices which will also offer dishes of traditional gastronomy.
