Benidorm celebrará con AFEM el Día de la Salud Mental

The association celebrates 20 years of struggle to improve the lives of people affected by the disease

The Councilor for Social Welfare, Angela Llorca, has presented this morning the events to celebrate the Day of Mental Health that will be held in Benidorm, on Tuesday 10 October, organized by AFEM, the Association of Relatives and People with Mental Illness of the Marina Baixa, in collaboration with the Town Hall. The entity has celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2017.

The program of events will start at noon, with the inauguration of a painting exhibition made by the users of AFEM, in the Espai d'Art of the hall of the town hall. At 12.30 pm, a banner will be displayed to pay homage to those who suffer from the disease on the balcony of the City Hall, and there will be a release of balloons. At 12.45, in the Hall of Acts of the City Council, the deputy of the Social Welfare area of ​​the Diputación de Alicante, Miguel Zaragoza, will read a commemorative manifesto in an event open to the attendance of all those who wish to participate, and then , at 13.30, at the same place, the group Spain Brava will perform a folk and variety show. Finally, at 14.15 a solidarity meal will be held at Cristal Park Hotel.

AFEM is a non-profit association that develops programs aimed at improving the quality of life of people affected by the disease and their families; struggle to claim the rights of this group, eliminate social stigma and promote the social and work inclusion of patients.
