The main actions will focus on Marina Alta and Baixa avenues, Els Tolls EDUSI, Europa avenue and improvements to schools and the surroundings
Benidorm maintains the rhythm of some works in summer to guarantee deadlines, avoid damage and offer optimal services to tourists and residents
The Department of Urban Scene will maintain the development of some works and actions on public roads during this summer season to guarantee the established deadlines and avoid delays that would put other municipal and supra-municipal work at risk and produce damage. Thus, as explained by the councillor José Ramón González de Zárate "we seek a balance between the public interest in the completion of the works within the stipulated period and the fulfilment of achieving optimal services for residents and visitors and the well-being of all".
Now Benidorm has several municipal works underway and the completion is urgent "since they are essential for improving the quality of life in our city and respond to many incidents on public roads and public services."
In this sense, the mayor has also indicated that the actions of the distribution companies of public services "are obligatory, since "it is key to guarantee and boost their proper functioning in the summer season due to the great impact they have on the population".
To this end, a plan of action has been established for these coming months based on technical criteria and with the approval of the technical reports "due to the need to continue with the execution of the reference works in July and August".
The main actions consist of four large blocks. On the one hand, the renovation of the drinking water and sewerage infrastructures in the Marina Alta and Marina Baixa avenues, is being carried out "and it is essential not to delay to improve the service to our citizens and tourists".
Secondly are the actions to improve pedestrian mobility and accessibility in Els Tolls neighbourhood, an work framed in the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI).
The third block focuses works in the city's schools "because now there are no schoolchildren and it is possible to work better", and the fourth block on Europa Avenue, specifically in the section of sidewalk between Ibiza and Esperanto streets, in front of the Cultural Center, included in the improvements offered by the company that has undertaken the infrastructure renovation works on Jaén street.
On the other hand, during these two months, actions will also continue that do not bother the population or, if anything, cause minor inconvenience. It is the urbanization project of the Special Plan for the Expansion of the Sant Jaume cemetery, the reconstruction of the sports court in the open air at the Ciudad Deportiva Guillermo Amor, the installation of co-generators for self-consumption of biogas and electricity generation at the Benidorm WWTP or continuing with the installation of 'LED' lights and remote control in the public lighting of the city.
In the same way, the works of the municipal concessionaires and those carried out by the municipal technical services in buildings and roads will also continue "in case it is necessary to act in the face of any contingency".
The same happens with other works that do not cause inconvenience, such as the channelling for the installation of screens for traveller information in canopies of bus stops in various locations, the actions of distribution companies of public services (electricity, natural gas, fibre optics, etc.), as well as those carried out to refurbish and improve universal accessibility in the Road Workers Box on the Emilio Ortuño road.
In addition, there are currently around a dozen private works on public roads that, due to their volume, must continue during the summer "because their stoppage could affect the next summer season," explained the councillor, who cited as an example the works in Selomar Hotel. González de Zárate recalled that "there is an ordinance in force that is to comply with it, so we will study in each case the possible complaints that arise looking for the best solution."
