The action, which will be finished tomorrow, addresses a neighborhood claim
Benidorm intalls a traffic light and pedestrian crossing to improve mobility and pedestrian safety at the junction of Europe with Jaén
Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Mobility, has enabled a new pedestrian crossing and traffic light on Europa Avenue, at the height of Jaén Street, whose creation is being carried out today with the aim that tomorrow it will be completed the intervention, including horizontal signage.
The 'A pie de Calle' campaign has moved today to the point where the work is carried out with the acting councilors for Mobility and Citizen Participation, José Ramón González de Zárate and Ana Pellicer, the vice president of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Zamora, and residents of this neighborhood to know in detail the details and objective of the action.
Thus, as explained by González de Zárate, at this point "a traffic light and a new pedestrian crossing will be implemented that will allow greater protection for both pedestrians and vehicles in their access to Jaén Street, where is the Cultural Center”.
The councilor specified that it is a "vindication of the residents of this area, but also the many users of the Cultural Center." In the mayor's opinion, this work "is very important because it improves the mobility of the entire area, especially for those who go to the Cultural Center."
González de Zárate detailed that Europa Avenue "has four lanes of traffic and hence it is also necessary to provide facilities for vehicles that want to turn towards Jaén." In this sense, he has insisted that in these streets there are "many hotels and apartments and with the action that we are carrying out, mobility is better reorganized by reducing the traffic on Lepanto, Ibiza or Gerona streets, with which the routes are made faster".
