Benidorm City Council helps train 90 students by providing opportunities for practical work experience
They were students from 18 educational institutions who completed their training practices in different municipal departments, applying their knowledge to real-world workplace situations
Benidorm City Council, through its Human Resources Department, has worked with 18 educational institutions so far this year to facilitate work placements for students in different municipal departments. This was announced by Councillor for Human Resources Ana Soliveres, who explained that a total of 90 young people have benefited from the programme. It aims to “provide students with a real working environment where they can apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their academic training, while also gaining first-hand insight into how the public administration operates and the realities of the labour market”.
Soliveres pointed out that, in most cases, “these are compulsory placements included in the students’ study programmes, which they must complete as part of their training”. However, “finding a company or organisation able to take them on is not always easy, which is why the City Council’s involvement is particularly important, as it helps expand opportunities and ensures that many students can meet this academic requirement”.
To facilitate these work placements, the City Council has signed cooperation agreements throughout 2026 with a total of 18 educational institutions offering vocational training programmes or degree courses. Most are located in Benidorm and the Marina Baixa area, although some are based elsewhere and have enrolled students from Benidorm who requested to complete their placement hours closer to home.
Specifically, the students came from the following institutions: the public secondary schools Beatriu Fajardo de Mendoza, Pere Maria Orts i Bosch, Almadrava, Bernat de Sarrià and Mediterrània in Benidorm; Marcos Zaragoza and La Malladeta in La Vila Joiosa; Bellaguarda in Altea; IES La Nucía; l’Arabí in l’Alfàs del Pi; as well as the private Lope de Vega school in Benidorm; Academia Santa Marta in La Vila Joiosa; the El Palmeral Integrated Public Vocational Training Centre in Orihuela; IES Mare Nostrum in Alicante; the University of Alicante; Universae Murcia; and Madrid’s Carlos III University and Rey Juan Carlos University.
Ana Soliveres explained that the placements took place “in virtually all municipal departments”, with efforts made to match each student with a position related as closely as possible to their field of study. She added that the overall assessment of the programme was “very positive”.
For this reason, she reaffirmed “Benidorm City Council’s commitment to continuing to support the training of these young people and to work with educational institutions in the area, providing spaces where students can learn and gain insight into the professional world. This collaboration not only helps them prepare for the future and gain practical experience, but also contributes to improving and strengthening the services we provide” as a City Council.
