The Local Government Board (JGL) of Benidorm City Council has today approved the award of the management contracts for recreational activities on the city's beaches, which will enter into service imminently on the occasion of the start of the high season.

The tender has been carried out in six lots (pedal boats; jet skis; banana, parachute, and flyfish; sky cable; boat rental and floating games) for which the City Council will receive a total of around half a million euros per year.

The Councilor for Beaches, Mónica Gómez, recalled that the contracts that were awarded in 2017 should have ended in 2020 but "as a consequence of the pandemic, an extension of two more years was chosen that ended in 2022." This new tender established an award term of two years with the option of extending it another two years.

Thus, the first batch, corresponding to the rental of pedal boats, kayaks, and paddle surf, will be managed by the company R.A. Benidorm SL, which will pay an annual fee of 95,000 euros. You can install four sectors on the Levante beach and another three in the West with a maximum of ten skates in each one.

The second batch is that of jet skis, which has been awarded to Deportes Náuticos Carlos Serrano, which must pay an annual fee of 201,000 euros and may rent up to a maximum of eight vehicles. The award of the third lot, corresponding to the banana, parachute, and flyfish, has fallen to Benidorm Marine SL, which will pay the council an annual fee of 70,500 euros.

Cable Sky will be managed by Daniel Armas and the annual fee has been set at 5,000 euros. The company Benidorm Marine SL has also been awarded the fifth lot, the rental of boats of less than 15 meters in length, for an annual fee of 52,800 euros. In this case, there will be a maximum of four vessels that may not remain on the shore or anchor in the entry and exit channel for vessels. "We give them the possibility of installing a floating platform for mooring if they are granted the necessary authorizations and they will only be able to navigate outside the bathing area, without exceeding 12 knots and without being able to anchor in areas with seagrass meadows" he specified. Gomez.

The last batch, that of the floating games, will be managed these two years by the company Galiventura SL, which will pay a fee of 69,111 euros and must install a floating platform in Levante and another in Poniente.

Benidorm City Council will receive a total of close to half a million euros per year for the award of all these leisure activity services.

However, the municipal authorizations that are the object of this tender are subject to the successful bidders obtaining the pertinent authorizations year after year from the Provincial Coastal Service and the Alicante Maritime Captaincy of the Merchant Navy, in the latter case having to comply with safety regulations. and general and specific conditions imposed on them. They will not be able to start the activity without the authorization of the Maritime Captaincy of Alicante.

In the same way, the activities that require the use of water in the area of the Serra Gelada Natural Park and its coastal environment, must have the authorization of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency, and Ecological Transition, and abide by the conditions that this body establishes in the development of its activity.

Mónica Gómez pointed out that "one more year the beaches of Benidorm will once again have the best leisure offer available for the enjoyment of the thousands of users who use them every day".
