Benidorm approves the payment of more than one million euros of aid to hotels that participated in Imserso in 2022

Benidorm aprueba el pago de más de un millón de euros de ayudas a hoteles que participaron del Imserso en 2022

The amount of aid is established at a rate of 3.30 euros per room and day

Benidorm Local Government Board (JGL) has approved today the payment of aid to Benidorm hotels that participated in the Imserso program in 2022 for an amount of just over one million euros; an amount that is fully financed through a subsidy from the Provincial Council of Alicante. As reported by the mayor and president of the provincial body, Toni Pérez, "In the case of Benidorm this call for aid has reached the 28 establishments in the city that last year received clients from the Imserso social program."

Pérez recalled that "with this aid, an attempt has been made to partially compensate the hotel accommodations that in 2022 made their facilities available to the program, even despite the excessively low price set by the Ministry of Social Affairs." Some establishments, he has added, that "to that unjustified price they also had to add the general increase in the cost of energy and all goods and services."

The mayor stressed that the Ministry's refusal to review Imserso prices in the terms demanded by the sector and skyrocketing costs and inflation over the year and a half “have greatly stressed the economic situation of the establishments participating in the program; This situation is being corrected in part with this aid from the Provincial Council that we have managed quickly and diligently from the City Council so that they arrive at the hotels in the city as soon as possible”.

The amounts that will be entered are set by the number of rooms that participated in the program. Thus, each establishment received 3.30 euros per day and room occupied by the Imserso program between February and December of last year to a total of 1,063,722.60 euros.

Lastly, the mayor regretted that "the Central Government has not learned from experience and, after false management in recent years, the new edition of Imserso is taking its first steps, again generating uncertainty and concern in the tourism sector, as that again we find ourselves with prices that do not cover expenses and with a more than foreseeable delay in the implementation of the program that endangers the maintenance of thousands of jobs”.
