These personnel, assigned to the Ecovid program subsidized by LABORA, have worked in different municipal departments and facilities

Concejalía de Emleo.

The 84 people over the age of 30 hired for a year by Benidorm City Council within the great employment plan launched in 2021 have completed their service. Over the last 12 months, this staff has served in different municipal departments and facilities, performing customer service, maintenance, or road cleaning tasks, as recalled by the Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez.

Gómez recalled that “this staff has been assigned to the Ecovid program, co-financed by LABORA and Benidorm City Council, within the strategy of promoting employment and improving opportunities for access to the labor market; a strategy to which we have allocated even more resources over the last two years to minimize the effects that the pandemic has had on employment and family economies, convinced that job creation is the best social policy that can be carried out ”.

Of the 84 people hired, 55 have worked in the field of customer service in buildings and sports facilities such as Palau d'Esports, Foietes sports center, and 'Antonio López' football fields; in Tossal de la Cala; at the Employment and Local Development Agency; in the municipal library; in schools and Secondary Education highschools; in the municipal printing house; in the municipal branches; in the Local Police; and in the departments of Social Welfare, Urban Scene, Statistics, Historical and Cultural Heritage, Cemeteries, Culture, Protocol, Human Resources, Technical Services, Tourism, and Urbanism.

Another 10 people have served as maintenance workers, focusing on the adaptation and conditioning of public spaces. Thus, in coordination with the municipal brigades, they have carried out tasks of painting and refurbishing schools, promenades, sports facilities and street furniture, among others.

Likewise, the seven forest laborers have been in charge of cleaning roads in the l'Horta area, or clearing and fine-tuning ditches at points such as the CV-70 or Comunidad Valenciana avenue; while the eight hired public works laborers have participated, among others, in the renovation works of the pavement of Calle Callosa d'En Sarrià. Finally, four electricians have collaborated in maintenance and support tasks for the municipal staff.

The Ecovid program has involved an investment of 1,960,968.02 euros. Of these, 1,285,182.90 euros correspond to a subsidy from LABORA, with resources from the Operational Program of the European Social Fund of the Valencian Community 2014-2020, within Specific Objective 1 of the REACT-EU Axis: 'Support access to the labor market, job creation, and quality employment, as well as maintaining employment, including youth employment, and supporting the self-employed and entrepreneurs. The City Council, for its part, contributed the remaining 675,785.12 euros.

The great municipal employment plan was completed with the EMPUJU program, also co-financed by LABORA, through which 57 young people under the age of 30 were hired, bringing the number of people employed to 141 and the investment to more than 3.2 million.
