Youth celebrates the 30th anniversary of the New Creators Contest

The Councilor for Youth, Ana Pellicer, has presented this morning the next edition of the New Creators of Painting and Sculpture Contest that will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary this year. The councillor, who appeared before the media accompanied by the technical coordinator of the Department, José Romeu, announced that, for that reason "will be given a leading role" to winners of previous editions.

Pellicer recalled that "all young people who wish, between the ages of 14 and 35 years old" (both inclusive), can be registered and that the works must be "original and unpublished, of technique, theme and free dimensions" in painting and sculpture and that the contestants may present a maximum of two works. In addition, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary, the Department of Youth will contact the winners of previous editions to participate, "if they wish" or provide some creation that will also be displayed along with the works that compete.

For the celebration of the first thirty editions of the New Creators, the Department has extended the period of exposure because "the two weeks of previous years always go very fast." Pellicer  announced that for the occasion, the exhibition will be mounted at Boca del Calvari Museum "from January 22 to March 17, 2019", practically two months. The councillor also clarified that young artists interested in participating must present their originals at the museum between January 8 and 18, 2019. "They have enough time," he underlined, "to plan and carry out their work, so we launched the call well in advance. "

Regarding the awards, the head of Youth has said that two of 1,000 euros each have been established for painting and sculpture. There will also be another 100 euros to the best author's work under 18 years. In this sense, José Romeu pointed out that "although the works awarded with 1,000 euros will become part of the municipal artistic heritage, that of the child under 18, no. It will remain the property of the creator.
