Benidorm enables the swimming street of Poniente beach

The swimming street of Poniente beach is operational again today. Installed in front of Elche Park, it is composed of two segments of 50 meters with a free space between both to allow the passage of maritime emergency vehicles in case of need.

The councilors of Sports and Beaches, Arturo Cabrillo and Lorenzo Martínez, explained that "although the street has been re-enabled coinciding with the beginning of summer, the intention is to keep it operational all year so that it can be used by fans to the swimming who want to enjoy this sport or train in our waters beyond the summer season ".

Both councilors indicated that "from experiences of previous years we know that there are many swimmers who use this street, located in the most protected area of ​​the wind of our Poniente beach, and that allows them to enjoy their hobby in better conditions" .

They also stressed that "with the launch and maintenance of this swim street we are offering the public a service on our beaches and encouraging outdoor sports in our main natural and tourist resource." Following this same line of work, they recalled, "it is currently enabling a new space for the practice of beach volleyball in the sand of Poniente, with the creation of six tracks with capacity to host sporting events and that will be available to local clubs and high level athletes ".
