The city has three points to facilitate bathing for people with functional diversity or mobility problems

Nearly 5,000 people have used the accessible beach points during the first two months of high season

Playa Accesible en Benidorm

Benidorm was a pioneer in the implementation of this service, which so far this year has already served more than 10,000 people

In the first two months of the high season, nearly 5,000 people have used the three accessible beach points in Benidorm, according to data provided today by the councilor for the area, Mónica Gómez, who recalled that "the city was a pioneer more than two decades in the implementation of this service with which bathing is provided to people with functional diversity or who present mobility problems”.

According to the data provided by Gómez, in June 2,472 people made use of the accessible beach service. Slightly more than half, 1,224 users, went through the accessible beaches point of Elche Park; around 978 opted for the one in Levante, located at the height of Murcia Street, and 270 for the one in La Cala, located opposite Mont Benidorm Avenue. In July the user figures were similar: 1,221 people in Elche Park in Levante, 754 in Levante, and 385 in La Cala area. In total, 2,360 users

“Even though in summer and Easter is when logically the highest peaks of influx of users are registered, the truth is that the demand for the service is sustained throughout the year; Hence, during the twelve months of the year the three accessible beach points of Levante and Poniente works, with opening hours increasing as the season progresses ”, she has detailed.

In fact, "so far this year the three points of accessible beaches add up to more than 10,000 users." Of these, 4,933 have made use of the Elche Park service; and 4,069 have opted for the one located in Levante. The remaining 1,184 users have passed through the point of accessible beaches in La Cala.

The person in charge of Beaches stressed that "Benidorm's beaches are an example of accessibility at a national and international level with a model that other destinations and municipalities have been replicating." Gómez highlighted that "from the City Council and the concessionaire company we maintain permanent contact with the users of the accessible beaches to collect their suggestions to further improve the service, which is highly valued by the people and families who they make use of it, especially about the attention they receive from the staff of the three points”.

The accessible beach points of Parque de Elche and Levante have the UNE 170001-1 and UNE 170001-2 Universal Accessibility certificates. In summer, each point is assisted by three workers from the company that owns the beaches, RA Benidorm.
