Nearly 400 Swimmers take Part in the ‘Heartbreak Benidorm Crossing,’ swimming along Levante Beach to the rhythm of rock and roll
Just under 400 swimmers took part today in the eighth edition of the province’s most rock-inspired open-water swimming event, the Heartbreak Benidorm Crossing, covering the length of Benidorm’s Levante Beach. The event was organised by the Finisher Sports Club with the support of Benidorm City Council’s Department of Sports.
With rock and roll music playing throughout the morning, participants set off at exactly 9:00 a.m. and made their way across the sea until shortly before 11:00 a.m., when the final swimmer reached the finish line on the shore. He was welcomed with a huge round of applause from the spectators and the organisers. In total, swimmers from 27 provinces and nine different nationalities took part.
Shortly afterwards, the trophy and medal ceremony took place, attended by Mayor Toni Pérez, Sports Councillor Javier Jordá, and several members of the local government. The winner of the men’s overall category was, once again, Miguel Bou Bernabéu, with a time of 38:42. He was followed by César Parra Cantos, who finished in 40:56, and the third position went to Mateo Pesquer Campos with a time of 41:46.
In the women’s overall category, the first swimmer to reach the finish line was Daira Eluney Marín, who stopped the clock at 41:42. Second place went to Carla Domenech Hernani, with a time of 44:15, and third place was claimed by María Peñas Bernabéu, who finished in 49:54.
The first local swimmers to cross the finish line were Gabriel Pantaloni Spalla in the men’s category and Eliana Krist Sotelo Reynoso in the women’s category. All times and rankings can be found on the website www.multiesport.es.
