Education extends the deadline to apply for aid to review classes in Primary and Secondary

Educación amplia el plazo para solicitar las ayudas a las clases de refuerzo en Primaria y Secundaria

The Local Government Board (JGL) has extended the deadline for submitting applications for grants to participate in review classes for students in the second and third cycle of Primary Education and Secondary Education, which ended on December 9 and now is being extended until December 21, inclusive. This has been announced today by the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno.

"These grants - Moreno recalled - are aimed at families in Benidorm with fewer resources and those who have children who require educational support", such as those students who "due to lock down could not follow the normal development of telematic classes because they do not have the appropriate technical means ”.

The financial assistance is part of the ‘Activem els Col·les’ project, and is paid for 50% by the City Council and the Department of Education, Culture and Sports. The total amount is 97,800 euros and the maximum amount per student is 50 euros per month during the first semester of 2021.

Maite Moreno recalled that, in order to apply for the aid, the family unit must be registered in Benidorm "uninterruptedly" from September 1, 2019, not exceed the maximum income threshold set by the Ministry for school dining scholarships and have "a favorable report from the educational center." In this regard, the councilor has specified that "teachers are who best know the reality of the students, who have educational deficits and who have the best predisposition to get involved in support and review classes."

The review classes will be taught during the first semester of 2021 in academies and private study centers in Benidorm, they will last one hour and have a frequency of two sessions a week. You can get further information on the municipal website: https://benidorm.org/es/node/64750
