Benidorm opens a car park on Bernat de Sarrià Avenue and increases the number of parking spaces in the city to more than 8,000

The new park and ride on Bernat de Sarrià Avenue is now operational today. This new free parking is located at Ciudad Real Street, where a roundabout was also built months ago to improve mobility in the area.

The mayor Toni Pérez and the councillor for Mobility and Urban Scene, Francis Muñoz, visited the site this morning to check the final state of the work, which consisted of clearing the plot, cleaning the site, the compaction of the terrain and lighting.

The parking was created on a plot in Ensanche Levante sector of 16,581.18 square meters and can house 662 vehicles.

As stated by the Councilor for Mobility, "they are spaces that will help the parking in the area and will provide service to users of the health centre, the hospital, the sports facilities or the flea market."

The new parking spaces are added to those already existing throughout the municipality in the almost 40 park-and-ride facilities, for a total of more than 8,000. This action has also included the creation of a roundabout at the confluence of Bernat de Sarrià and Ciudad Real Street, with which, as indicated by the councillor, "we achieved essential objectives for the City Council such as improving road safety and mobility.”

The councillor has pointed out that at this entrance to Benidorm via Levante “drivers will find a new car park with almost 700 spaces that is very close to the existing one at the confluence with Derramador”. Two plots that already allow “all those who visit us or who come to work in this area to have perfectly enabled parking spaces, with lighting and prepared for use by anyone.”

Francis Muños has stressed that with the creation of these spaces in Rincón de Loix, “we respond to the parking needs that exist in the area, where there is a significant housing and residential weight, and we also anticipate the future demand, marked for the new health centre.” In this regard, he has stated that "as citizens already know, the health centre is going to be located on a municipal plot located next to the 'Antonio López' football fields, land donated by the City Council that until now was enabled as a parking lot. ”.
