The mayor reviews the main municipal projects in terms of sustainability, mobility and development before an auditorium full of people
Toni Pérez inaugurates the annual cycle of conferences of 'El Faro de Alejandría' talking about Benidorm 2030
Yesterday afternoon, the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, was in charge of inaugurating this year's series of conferences organized by the Cultural Association 'El Faro de Alejandría', with a talk and a subsequent colloquium held under the title 'Benidorm 2030'. During his conference, the first mayor reviewed the main projects in terms of sustainability, sustainable mobility, water efficiency and development that have already been carried out or will be developed in the coming years and that, as he explained, have made Benidorm “example of good work for many other cities in Spain and Europe.”
The Assembly Hall of Casa del Fester was filled to the brim to follow the conference given by the first mayor, with a large representation of Benidorm civil society, who not only followed his presentation with interest but later also actively participated by launching reflections. and questions to Toni Pérez.
Among the topics that were addressed in the talk, the mayor explained the benefits that projects such as the pedestrianization of many roads are already bringing to the city's daily life; the reduction of speed with the '10-20-30' plan; the accessibility improvement works carried out in all neighbourhoods; the development of new parks and the expansion of green areas, with which Benidorm is being renaturalized and adapted to climate change; the creation of park and ride facilities with more than 8,000 free parking spaces; or the numerous investments carried out to improve the efficiency of the drinking water network, which have allowed consumption to be reduced by 20% in the last 25 years even though there is 40% more registered population and that 26% more tourists arrive than then. And, in addition, he highlighted the tourist weight of the destination and the latest population data released by the INE, which places Benidorm as one of the towns that is growing the most in number of inhabitants in all of Spain, with 2,985 more registered and an increase of 4.31%.
The president of El Faro de Alejandría, María Isabel López Villanueva, thanked the mayor for her participation in inaugurating the 2024 conference cycle organized by this cultural association and, in addition, they gave her a souvenir cup. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 23, and will be led by psychologist Arnulfo González, with a conference focused on love and relationships.
