Benidorm has requested a grant of 317,000 euros for the new edition of the program

The 20 young people hired by the City Council with European funds through the EMPUJU program end their service

The 20 young people under 30 years of age hired by the City Council with European funds through the EMPUJU -Avalem Joves Plus program ended yesterday their services in the different departments where they have developed their work for a year. The Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, recalled that the City Council received for this program, through Labora-Valencian Employment and Training Service, a subsidy of 320,084.03 euros from the Youth Employment Operational Program of the Social Fund European (ESF) 2014-2020 for the hiring of unemployed young people under 30 years old "

Gómez has detailed that “of the 20 young beneficiaries of the program, 12 have worked as telephone operators-receptionists in municipal departments such as Urban Planning, Education, Culture, Human Resources, Environment, Citizen Services, Employment and Local Promotion, Sports and Printing, reinforcing the staff assigned to these areas ”. The remaining 8 young people "have carried out maintenance tasks for municipal facilities and offices, as well as refurbishment of public spaces."

The person in charge of Employment and Local Promotion has stressed that "the work they have carried out for twelve months has allowed the City Council to improve the services it provides to the citizen and to act more immediately on aspects of the urban scene that required urgent action"; while it has served these young people to “gain experience and improve their employability”.

For the fourth consecutive year, Benidorm City Council has requested to participate in a new edition of this program. Specifically for this 2020 Labora has been requested a subsidy of 317,244.48 euros, an amount with which 20 unemployed people under 30 years old could be hired in the city. The City Council is waiting for Labora to solve this call to know the final amount of the aid and thus determine the number of young people who can finally be hired, as well as the profiles or occupations to demand.

Last week the 18 young graduates hired by the City Council also for a year with European funds through the EMCUJU –Avalem Joves Plus- program ended their contract.
