The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has joined the common front that emerged from the Provincial Water Commission in defense of the irrigators of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct. In a meeting held this morning and in which Toni Pérez has participated tellematicaly, the Provincial Water Commission has unanimously endorsed the technical report prepared by the Central Union of Irrigators of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct (Scrats) in which it is alerted that The increase in ecological flows from the Tajo will have serious effects on the viability of the transfer, reducing the transferable volumes by 20%, going from the 340 cubic hectometres (hm3) per year on average -with the current operating rules- to 271 hm3.

The President of the Provincial Council, Carlos Mazón, thanked "everyone's union" in the face of this problem, and has announced that he will request an interview on behalf of this body with the Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, to explain the position of the province of Alicante and the details of this study contributed by the irrigators, and which will be the basis of the allegations that will be presented, from different areas, against the Provisional Scheme of Important Issues of the Tajo River Basin District.
