Qualitur flags wave on Benidorm beaches

02 July 2020
Las banderas Qualitur ondean en las playas de Benidorm

From today Qualitur flags wave on the beaches of Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas, and in the coves of Almadrava and Ti Ximo in Benidorm, a distinction awarded by the Valencian Government that certifies excellence in quality, environment and accessibility.

The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has hoisted the flag on Levante beach, at the confluence of Alcoi Avenue with the promenade, in an act in which he has been accompanied by the councillor of Beaches, Mónica Gómez; the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer; the general director of Tourism, Herick Campos; the president of the hotel association, HOSBEC, Toni Mayor; and representatives of all municipal groups.

In front of the new flag that flies next to the blue flag and the flag of Spain, the mayor recalled the “effort” that it has meant to get them. "Here it is," he said, "the quality that is our way of life." Benidorm "has never lived with its back to its beaches, nor to the sea", therefore, obtaining this award "has a fundamental value" and even more so "in these difficult and uncertain times" that the city has experienced.

Toni Pérez has valued the will to "work" of Benidorm with the aim of "adding to the Comunitat Valenciana brand", turned into a "common" project for all people from Valencia.

In this sense, the regional secretary of Tourism has stressed that "the Q for‘ quality ’is not given to anyone." It is a program of the Valencian Community that "allows us to identify that a beach is not just a beach" but for different reasons, its "City Council has made it possible for it to be a first-rate tourist experience" due to its services "and everything that surrounds the beach itself ”.

Colomer has vehemently defended the attitude of Benidorm during "the worst of the pandemic" because he has managed to continue emitting "a very powerful message around the world" in which "quality, responsibility, trust, credibility, quality and reputation are in first position ”. Colomer has recognized the work done in Benidorm. "In this," he said, "we will always be grateful to the city of Benidorm for what it has done in 2020." The Secretary of Tourism, has also underlined that it was "gratifying for all" that the international press highlighted the organization of Benidorm beaches, through the Benidorm Beach Safety program, which has launched "a message of trust and safety which is the best marketing operation that can be launched right now. "

Protocol ON certification

Following the raising of the flag, an act took place at RH Corona del Mar hotel where the autonomous administration has given seven hotel establishments in Benidorm the first Protocol.ON certification that guarantees the maximum prevention of these establishments before Covid -19. Likewise, Francesc Colomer has signed a collaboration agreement with Visit Benidorm by which the Foundation will receive 210,000 euros to promote its activity.
