An exhibition reviews the figure of Bernat de Sarrià and the 25 years of staging of the Poblament Charter

03 May 2017
Una exposición repasa la figura de Bernat de Sarrià y los 25 años de escenificación de la Carta de Poblament

The exhibition can be visited this week in l'Espai d'Art of the City Hall

A brief graphic story will illustrate students about the events that occurred in 1325

The commemorative events of the 692 anniversary of the granting of the Charter of Poblament of Benidorm began yesterday with the inauguration of the exhibition '25 anys de somnis i realitats'. This exhibition, which can be visited in the Espai d'Art of the Town Hall, recalls the figure of Bernat de Sarrià, who awarded the first letter of settlement to Benidorm on 8 May 1325; and also the 25 years of staging of this historic event by the Carta de Poblament Group, which emerged within this group.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by the mayor, Toni Pérez; the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; Councilors of the municipal corporation; the queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Àngela Antón and Anna Galiana; the president of the Association of Penyes, Mariano Nájera; and members of the Carta de Poblament Group, chaired by Mari Luz Navarro.

During his speech, the mayor emphasized that l'Espai d'Art is the best place for an exhibition of the Carta de Poblament of 1325, since in the windows of the upper part of this space are screenprinted fragments of that document from a copy of 1435, which includes the creation of the castle, the limits of Benidorm and the conditions for Christian families to settle in this territory.

The inauguration of this exhibition also served to present the 'auca', a brief graphic history about Bernat de Sarrià and the granting of the Charter of Poblament edited by the Councils of Fiestas and Culture, with illustrations by Joan Fuster and text by the philologist Pasqual Almiñana, the maintainer this Saturday in the act of staging. Both, the 'auca' and the graphic history, will be distributed in the schools of Benidorm to bring this character and this historical fact to the youngest.

The acts of the Cultural Week of the Charter of Poblament continue today at 21.00 hours, with the performance of the play 'Pudo suceder'. Tomorrow, at the same time, the church of Santa Jaume and Santa Ana will host a concert by the Cambra i Cors Orchester de la Unió Musical. In addition, from the morning until Sunday 7 May, the medieval market will take place, which will be located in Park of Elche and Alcalde José Such street, which will feature entertainment and shows.

On Saturday will be the turn of the representation of the act of granting the Poblament Charter of Benidorm by Admiral Bernat de Sarrià, scheduled for Saturday at 9.30 pm, in its original enclave: the Óscar Esplá amphitheater of l ' Aigüera Park.

The events commemorated by the foundation of Benidorm will conclude on Monday, May 8, anniversary of the granting of the Charter of Poblament, with the celebration at noon of the institutional full of Benidorm Day.
