Benidorm celebrates Sant Isidre this weekend with a mass and the traditional pilgrimage to Hermitage of Sanç
The Sant Isidre Festival Committee will celebrate the patron saint of farmers this weekend with various events, including a mass and the traditional pilgrimage to the Hermitage of Sant Isidre. In this way, the city's residents, especially those living in the l'Horta neighbourhood, will celebrate one of the traditional festivals held throughout the year in this area of Benidorm, along with those in honour of Sant Antoni and the Mare de Déu del Roser.
The celebrations will begin tomorrow, Friday, May 15, with a high mass dedicated to Sant Isidre, which will take place at the Hermitage starting at 8:30 p.m. They will continue on Saturday in the Hermitage Square with the decoration of the carts that will participate in the traditional pilgrimage on Sunday.
Sunday will be the main day of the festivities, beginning early in the morning with the collection and transport of the carts to Avenida de Bilbao. From there, at 10:00 AM, the Sant Isidre Pilgrimage will depart, proceeding along Levante Beach, through Ametlla de Mar, and along Severo Ochoa Street to the Benidorm Palace, where participants will stop for refreshments. The procession will then continue along Severo Ochoa Street and the l’Albir tourist road, ending at the Hermitage of Sant Isidre.
Once at the Hermitage, around 1:00 PM, the traditional water jug auction will take place, and there will be a bar serving drinks and food at affordable prices, along with live music to liven up the celebration.
