Three of the four performances of the cycle, which begins this Friday, will be outdoors in public spaces
Culture takes to the streets Benidorm Music Jazz 2018
The Benidorm Music Jazz premieres this Friday, April 13, its edition of 2018. An edition that comes with "a novelty" compared to previous years, since "most of the concerts go out to the street and will be outdoors in public spaces ", as announced today by the Councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer, during the presentation of the cycle, which will be composed of four free performances. Of them, only one will be held in the Hall of the City Hall, while the other three have been scheduled in the squares of Castell, La Senyoria and Foietes Park.
Pellicer explained that this decision has been taken after last year's experience, when for the closing concert was chosen Plaza de la Señoría, with "very good reception from the public".
About the program, Pellicer stressed that "the opening and closing of the Benidorm Music Jazz 2018 will have the voice of a woman". Thus, the group Nes will be in charge of opening the cycle this Friday at 8:00 pm in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, with a concert in which the band premieres their album 'Ahlam', in which jazz merges with the Arabic music and the French song.
The second concert will take place on Friday, April 20 at 8:00 pm at Plaza del Castell and will feature The Swing Notes, a band formed by five musicians who drink the most versatile, different and danceable swing.
The quartet of jazz fusion Jesús Martínez Quartet will offer the third performance of the cycle in the Plaza de La Senyoria, on Friday, May 4; and Eva Romero with Ramón Cardo Trio will be in charge of closing the cycle on June 1 in Foietes Park at 10 pm with a tribute to Billie Holiday.
Pellicer announced that these outdoor concerts will feature "the participation of the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals and the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge" that will install bars at popular prices.
Collaboration of the IES Pere Mª in the cycle
Apart from betting to bring the Benidorm Music Jazz to the public with performances in open spaces, this edition of the cycle has another novelty, since the graphic design of the posters has been carried out by a student of the upper level of Marketing and Publicity of IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch. Specifically, the poster is the work of Pablo Muñoz, who has participated in the press conference together with the head of studies at the José Muñoz center. Both have appreciated the opportunity that the department has given students to put their skills and concepts learned into practice.
Pellicer stressed that this collaboration is not unique, since City Hall and center are working together "in other activities and initiatives such as the Window Dressing Contest, the commercial campaign 'Benidorm Fet a Mà' and, in short also, with the Cinema d 'Estiu. " The councilwoman influenced that with this collaboration the students acquire practice and experience in the face of their future incorporation into the working world, and "we gain freshness and new ideas".
