In 2019 the thousand was exceeded, as confirmed by the mayor during the opening of V National Congress of Tourist Apartments and Homes, organized by Aptur

Benidorm processes nearly 300 certificates of compatibility for tourist homes so far this year

12 March 2020
Benidorm tramita cerca de 300 certificados de compatibilidad para viviendas turísticas en lo que va de año

Since the year began, Benidorm City Council has processed close to 300 certificates of urban compatibility for apartments or tourist homes. This has been transferred today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, during the opening of the V National Congress of Tourist Apartments and Homes organized by Aptur, the employers of the sector in Benidorm and the Costa Blanca, which is a member of the Spanish Federation (Fevitur).

An opening that has been held in the Assembly Hall of the Town Hall and which has been attended, among others, by members of the Municipal Corporation, representatives of the National Police Force; the president of Aptur, Miguel Ángel Sotillos; and entrepreneurs and representatives of SMEs in the sector.

As reported by the mayor, "when the quarter has not yet finished, more than 400 compatibility certificates have already been processed in the Urban Planning department, 70% of which correspond to apartments and dwellings for tourist use." These figures follow in the wake of 2019, the year in which "more than 1,000 certificates of compatibility were awarded for apartments and dwellings for tourist use."

Pérez pointed out that "this is the line in which we have to work and deepen", because "the city has accommodation in tourist homes in one of its great allies when it comes to offering happiness to the world." In this sense, it has influenced that Benidorm "knows and understands the accommodation model" and "is always ready to learn more about its evolution, seeking to improve benefits, meet the Sustainable Development Goals and be more sustainable and, at the same time, time, more competitive ”.

The mayor has meant that in this housing modality “the challenge is right now to tackle a regulatory framework with more guarantees and to emerge the non-standard offer that still exists today, and that with the aim of adding value to society as a whole. We are facing a model demanded by users, which is valued by customers, and requires management and standardization. ” "We are no longer for collaborative economy arguments"; but "we are dealing with a professionalized economic activity".

Likewise, he indicated that "this congress shows the professional strength that the tourist housing sector has achieved, with an offer that has reached the stage of maturity and professionalism necessary to form a tourist segment that is sustainable and is up to the task. of quality demand that requires the model of tourism of excellence for which we bet ”.

For his part, the president of Aptur has highlighted the presentations that will take place throughout the two days of congress by "professional level". Specifically, this V Congress will deal with issues that affect them in terms of legislation, taxation and new technologies for apartments and tourist homes, also analyzing the new market segments. In addition, it holds reverse Workshop sessions, as well as a motivational talk by the leading speaker Emilio Duró.

During his intervention, Sotillos took advantage of the opportunity to demand from the Government of Spain that the "grant and financing lines" announced to alleviate the possible economic effects of the coronavirus reach SMEs. He has also warned about the consequences of this crisis because of coronavirus.

The mayor pointed out that "now we have a reality that has manifested itself crudely and forcefully, but all of this is nothing more than an incentive to continue working." "We cannot fall into conformity, we have to be cautious, but without this preventing us from having a serious debate and from knowledge to be more prepared and more competitive."
