Benidorm complements the renovation of El Torrejó Tourist Office with an immersive room to enhance the visitor experience
Benidorm City Council will invest just over €59,000 in a project to digitise El Torrejó Municipal Tourist Office with various devices that will improve the experience for visitors and users. The Local Governing Board has approved the awarding of this project to Amazing Up-Ingeniería Activa del Ocio SL, for a total amount of €59,290, including VAT, financed by the European Union with Next Generation funds, through the ‘Verde Benidorm’ Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan.
The Councillor for European Funds and Procurement, Aida García Mayor, explained that this project, "Digitising the User Experience of Benidorm Tourist Office," falls under Axis 3 of the "Green Benidorm" plan, Digital Transition, specifically action number 6. It will complement another project within the same Digital Transition Plan (PSTD), which was also awarded this week: the Rehabilitation and Renovation of the Tourist Office, with a budget of €103,480.54.
García Mayor also explained that the bid from Amazing UP-Ingeniería Activa del Ocio SL was the highest-rated by municipal technicians during the procurement process, out of the three submitted. Once the contract is formalised, the project will have a two-month execution period.
The contract to develop this project includes the implementation of an immersive room in the El Torrejó Tourist Office, conceived as an advanced technological space for the cultural, educational, and experiential promotion of the destination. In this regard, the plan is to equip this room with a projection, audio, video, and data system, which, according to the specifications, “constitute essential elements to guarantee the quality and functionality of the whole, making the acquisition and installation of the equipment and accessories necessary to optimise the user's immersive experience indispensable.”
In addition to this technological equipment, the project also includes the creation of a 360º video specifically for this room, as well as a minimum two-year warranty period for all the systems and equipment that will comprise it.
The city's mayor, Toni Pérez, and councilwoman García Mayor have stated that “with these two projects—one for digitisation and the creation of an immersive room, and the other for renovation and refurbishment—we will once again position our flagship Tourist Office at the forefront of both physical and technological resources. This will undoubtedly lead to new ways of understanding and serving visitors, creating a unique experience for tourists to enjoy and find everything they need.”
Finally, they noted that El Torrejó Municipal Centre, where this Tourist Office is located, “has become a true hub of innovation, digitisation, and tourism intelligence,” as it also houses the offices of the Department of Tourism, Visit Benidorm, BeCiTi hub, and the Destination Sustainability Observatory.
