In accordance with the health guidelines for the prevention of Covid-19, the aim is to avoid rallies of people and private parties in premises
Benidorm establishes a special police device coinciding with the dates when the Major Patron Saint Festivities would be celebrated
Benidorm Local Police, in coordination with the National Police, has finalized a special device coinciding with the dates of the Major Patron Saint Festivities. This has been advanced today by the Councilors for Citizen Security and Fiestas, Lorenzo Martínez and Jesús Carrobles, who have explained that “the objective of this device is to observe compliance with all measures dictated by the authorities against Covid-19, and that they have been extended for another 21 days, as it appears in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) last Monday ”.
The person in charge of Citizen Security has detailed that "with this device we try, fundamentally, to avoid rallies of people on public roads and the celebration of private parties in premises." Martínez has pointed out that "the experience recorded in these months in numerous municipalities in Spain recommends us to be alert and take precautions during these dates to guarantee compliance with all preventive measures and avoid unauthorized practices such as rallies of people drinking in the streets, which in the last order of the Generalitat Valenciana is already envisaged ”.
Likewise, Martínez has appealed to the "responsibility" of the population, so that during those days people maintain "the exemplary behavior" showed throughout the pandemic, complying with all health guidelines and thus contributing "to get out of this situation as soon as possible" .
The mayor has indicated that "this special device will begin to operate this weekend, when the Day of the Clubs traditionally would take place, which is not going to be celebrated like the rest of the events related to our Festivities, with the the only exception of the masses in honor of the patrons on the 8th and 9th organized by the Parish Council ”.
In this regard, the Councilor for Fiestas recalled that the ecclesiastical body requested the City Council to assign Julio Iglesias auditorium of l'Aigüera Parkso that the development of these masses, which usually bring together many people from Benidorm, "be carried out with the maximum guarantees and there are no problems of capacity, access or crowds in the parish of Sant Jaume i Santa Ana "
Carrobles has insisted that, “as we have already advanced weeks ago, the City Council will not authorize the celebration of events during the days when the Major Patron Saint Festivities should be celebrated, nor will it authorize the opening of premises or festive venues, nor the celebration of activities on public roads ”.
