Benidorm creates a new car park with 250 spaces in Juan Fuster Zaragoza

Benidorm City Council has created a new park-and-ride car park on Avenida Juan Fuster Zaragoza and with capacity for about 250 vehicles, as reported by the Mayor, Toni Pérez, who together with the Councilor for Works and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, today visited the plot where this car park is located and where adaptation works are being carried out.
Toni Pérez explained that “currently there is a parking area with 148 spaces next to the 'Antonio López' football fields and that it provides services to users of these sports facilities and the rest of the care services in the area, such as the social center La Torreta, IMED Levante hospital or Rincón de Loix park ”. However, "this plot is the one that the City Council gave years ago to the Ministry of Health for the new Rincón de Loix health center, in which we hope that the construction of this health infrastructure will begin rather sooner than later."
"Going ahead, perhaps a lot, at the beginning of these works, we have looked for a space in which to create a car park that not only replaces the current one, but also has the capacity to house more vehicles", he specified. Thus, of the 148 existing spaces in the current plot, it will go to around 300.
The councillor has clarified that “when the City Council asked the Ministry of Health that the building of the new health center include an underground parking lot. However, the basic project presented by the Ministry does not contemplate this service and that is why we have looked for alternative solutions to provide the area with 'extra' parking spaces, making it easier for users of these facilities and other public services to be able to park in the vicinity " .
The new park-and-ride car park is located on a plot on Avenida Juan Fuster Zaragoza, at the height of Mar Blau building, and which also has access from Zamora street. Toni Pérez has reported that "it is a plot owned by a nearby hotel establishment, with which we have signed an agreement for a period of two years." The City Council is in charge of the adaptation of the plot, in which an area will be reserved for the use of the hotel.
As indicated, "this car park will be free for residents and tourists" and "will be operational in a period of approximately two weeks, once the municipal Technical Services complete the adaptation work", which consists of removing the perimeter wall of the sloping plot on Juan Fuster Zaragoza avenue, create an accessible passage with breakwater and lighting installation.
