Benidorm requests a grant from the Provincial Council to renovate two sewage pumps
The Local Government Board (JGL) of Benidorm has approved the application for a subsidy to Alicante Provincial Council to undertake the renovation of two submersible centrifugal pumps for wastewater from the pumping line from Sierra Helada station to the treatment plant.
The grant from the Provincial Council finances 50% of the cost of both pumps, whose global budget amounts to 149,994.82 euros, so the aid from the provincial institution will amount to 75,000 euros.
Benidorm City Council has requested the subsidy under the call for the aid plan for municipalities and local entities of the province for the realization and improvement of hydraulic supply and sanitation infrastructures: Plan + Agua 2021.
The Councilor for Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that the city has two pumping lines from Benidorm to the treatment plant. "One of them, the one made by the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation, often breaks because the pumps were not of the ideal model," said the mayor.
This circumstance has caused, according to González de Zárate, that “the useful life of the pumps has been shorter than expected because they are very worn and paralyze the impulsion line. They have worn out much faster for not having installed a high-end model in their day ”.
For the replacement of both pumps, the criteria of the technicians have been counted on, so that "the ones that will be installed now will be adequate models and with all the guarantees so as not to have any environmental problem and to remain at the forefront in any matter related to the water cycle".
