The Skyline Film Festival premieres the short 'Why do girls cry?' filmed in Benidorm last autumn
Yesterday, Wednesday, the Fundación Mediterráneo classroom in Benidorm hosted the premiere of the short film 'Why Do Girls Cry?', directed by Claudia Ortega and produced by Entre las piedras Films, which was the winner of the 2023 edition of the Skyline Film Festival 'Shortpitch' Contest. The Councilor for Culture of the Benidorm City Council, Jaime Jesús Pérez, explained that “as established by the rules of the contest, this short was filmed in the city last October and November and has now been released within the programming. of this eighth edition of the festival, with which we complete a cycle that opened and is completed in Benidorm.” Likewise, the councillor has congratulated its author, the producer and the protagonists for the “magnificent result” of this work.
The winner of the contest, 'Why Do Girls Cry?', won a prize in kind valued at nearly 13,000 euros to carry out the project and film it in Benidorm, counting on collaboration at all times and with the support of Benidorm Film Office.
The film stars are Pepa Pastor and Aitor Martínez, who play the roles of Carmen and Lucas, after passing the children's casting that took place in the city last August. Both of them are accompanied in the cast by other young people from Benidorm who are fond of acting, who along with the protagonists also participated in the premiere and paraded along the 'red carpet' of the Skyline.
After the premiere of the winner of the last edition, the program of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, directed by Bea Hernández from Benidorm, hosts this Thursday the exhibition before the jury of the 'ShortPitch' finalist projects of 2024, whose awards ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. in the Fundación Mediterráneo Auditorium. In addition, other parallel activities will be developed within the festival's programming and new 'short films' will be selected in the Official National Section with a subsequent discussion between the directors, with a session adapted to audiences with disabilities, visual and auditory.
The festival will continue with other activities on Friday and end this Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., in the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council, where the closing gala and the awards ceremony will be held in the different sections in competition.
