Jaime Jesús Pérez: "Everyone is welcome here at Espai d'Art, just like in all municipal spaces"
'Relatos inefables' by Cuartolaurante arrives at Espai d'Art of the Benidorm City Council
From today, Wednesday, until April 30, Espai d’Art of Benidorm City Hall is hosting the painting exhibition ‘Ineffable Tales’ by Benidorm native Cuartolaurante, the creative alias of Laura García Zaragoza.
The Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and other members of the municipal corporation accompanied the artist on the first tour of the exhibition, located in the lobby of the City Hall building.
The councillor noted that Espai d’Art of the City Hall always hosts exhibitions that “both individuals and organisations” wish to showcase “their art and creativity,” and in this case, those of “Laura, who has been developing her abstract creativity for many years.”
Jaime Jesús Pérez expressed his delight that “anyone coming to the City Hall for any business or activity” can “enjoy art,” and in this case, the creations of a Benidorm resident, such as Cuartolaurante.
Jaime Jesús Pérez has made it clear that “everyone is welcome here at Espai d’Art, just as in all municipal spaces,” highlighting the City Council’s role as a promoter and driving force behind creativity, especially for local artists.
‘Relatos Inefables’ is part of the bimonthly cultural program organised by the Department of Culture. Cuartolaurante’s work aims to make viewers see themselves “as if looking in a mirror, reflecting on what they feel, what they dislike, their emotions,” emphasises Laura García Zaragoza.
The artist is a sociologist by training and currently combines her artistic practice with advanced studies in psychology. However, her artistic journey is self-taught, which doesn’t hinder her connection to the art world. “Art,” the artist points out, “expresses what society is like today; who I am, Laura. Where I come from, which is here, from Benidorm, and my experiences.”
'Relatos Inefables' can be visited at Espai d'Art of the City Hall until Thursday, April 30, during the citizen service hours of the municipal offices, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
