Benidorm expands the recreational offerings on Poniente beach with the installation of a zip line

Benidorm amplía la oferta lúdica de la playa de Poniente con la instalación de una tirolina

Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Beaches, has completed the installation of a zip line on Poniente Beach, which will expand the varied recreational offerings on this beach. The new attraction is located in the sand between Alfaz del Pi and Vigo streets and is aimed at users between 6 and 14 years of age.

The installation of the zip line was completed last Friday, so it is now operational. However, maximum use will be recorded during the summer when more users are on the beach.

The zip line, with an animal and marine theme, has a cable length of 20 meters and allows users to slide from the highest end taking advantage of the action of gravity. Made with a hot-dip galvanized steel structure, it has smooth braking thanks to a cushioned stop at the end of the travel. In addition, the cable tension is adjustable with an anti-vandal system.

The Councilor for Beaches, Mónica Gómez, has indicated that “the new zip line adds to the extensive leisure services that the beach already offers such as aquatic activities, floating platforms, the eight children's play areas, the twelve recreational play areas -sports, biblioplayas, skates, kayaks and jet skis.”

Poniente beach, with a length of 3,1000 meters and a maximum width of 105, has 44 accesses with walkways, six public toilet modules with 20 toilets, of which four are adapted, 70 Lavapiés modules with 122 pipes in total, 137 bins for collecting municipal solid waste, 32 for selective collection (paper and packaging), two accessible beach points and a rental service for hammocks, floating platforms and leisure activities, among others.

The councillor has specified that due to its location in a coastal environment, "maintenance will be extreme to avoid oxidation of the metal parts which, however, are already treated to prolong their life."

“We want to offer the best services to our visitors and users of the beaches and for them to have the best image and the best possible offer and that is why we do not stop investing not only in their maintenance but in the constant improvement of the sandy areas” concluded Gómez.
