Security tests in the municipal market mobile barriers to prevent access of vehicles to public spaces

Benidorm City Council has begun to test this Wednesday in the municipal market of Foietes mobile and modular barriers that prevent the access of vehicles to public spaces and with which it seeks to increase security. The Councilor for Public Safety, Lorenzo Martinez, explained that these devices "will be in test for a few weeks." Subsequently, the Security and Public Road technicians will evaluate "the repercussion that has had on the perception of security" of the citizens and also "the maneuverability of the own barriers" to see if they are effective and acquire more.

At present, the City Council has six modular meters of these devices, which will be tested in different accesses to the market, since "being modular they can be adjusted to the width of the space in which they want to cut off access or circulation" .

Also, "due to its easy assembly and maneuverability" can be transported from one point to another without recourse to cranes, which allows them to be placed in different parts of the city depending on the needs, of the transits or agglomerations. In addition, and unlike other fixed elements, these barriers can be removed at a given moment and in a matter of minutes to enable the access of emergency vehicles, which is "an extra security".

The councilor noted that "in other cities has already implemented this same model" of barriers. This is the case of Córboda, which during the last Holy Week, has used these devices in the processions or to cut traffic on the busiest streets.

According to "the tests of the manufacturing company" these barriers "would stop any vehicle that could hit them at a speed between 40 and 70 kilometers per hour".
