The project 'My smart city' analyzes the performances and advances of Benidorm to be DTI

06 October 2017
El proyecto ‘Mi ciudad inteligente’ analiza las actuaciones y avances de Benidorm para ser DTI

This initiative covers the 82 municipalities of the country integrated in the RECI to determine which measures are the most successful

The project 'My smart city', supported by the Spanish Network of Intelligent Cities (RECI) and the Secretary of State for the Information Society and Digital Agenda, today has come to Benidorm to analyze the actions and progress that are becoming linked to 'Smart City' and the Smart Tourist Destination (DTI). Those responsible for the company that develops this initiative, Geocyl, have been received by the mayor, Toni Pérez; and by the Councilor for Environment and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate.

The director of Geocyl, Pablo Rodriguez, explained that this initiative will cover the 82 cities that integrate the RECI to "analyze what is being done to improve life in the city and make it more livable" from areas such as "e-government, sustainable mobility, improved energy efficiency, accessibility or social innovation ".

To this end, municipal technicians have shown Geocyl initiatives and actions related to 'Smart City' and DTI as the network of 'beacons', the pilots of Wi-Fi on the beaches, the integrated and monitored management of water and other public services . This tour of Benidorm has been made in the 100% electric vehicle used by the company to travel throughout the country and, in addition to a range of 400 kilometers, is equipped with a sound level meter to measure the decibels.

Once you get all the initiatives, these are disseminated "among the cities that make up the RECI", acting as "a platform of exchange of knowledge" in which to learn from successful projects and discard those that have not been.

The mayor said that "when we joined the RECI two years ago we knew that it was the ideal instrument to position ourselves and advance in the DTI" taking advantage of the potential of Benidorm, which have no other cities. He also stressed that Benidorm is "a city focused on intelligence and sustainability to improve the quality of life of its neighbors."
