Pellicer and González de Zárate explain the Participatory Budget project to Barceló-Ricardo Bayona association

A more moving traffic and improvements in accessibility and security thanks to the future roundabout of Venezuela Avenue

08 April 2021
Un trànsit més fluid i millores en accessibilitat i seguretat gràcies a la futura rotonda d'av. de Veneçuela...

Members of Barceló-Ricardo Bayona association have held a working meeting today with the councilors of Citizen Participation and Public Space, Ana Pellicer and José Ramón González de Zárate, together with the vice presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario . The reason, the recent approval of what will be the most important action of the Participatory Budget 2021, the roundabout at the junction of Ricardo Bayona with Venezuela Avenue.

The meeting, framed in the institutional campaign ‘A pie de calle’, has analyzed “one of the largest investments that the Participatory Budget will address”, pointed out Ana Pellicer. A municipal intervention that will improve road traffic and pedestrian access in a highly populated neighborhood, with access to Foietes Health Center, the Specialties Center, Ausiàs March and Miguel Hernández schools and where most of the vehicles circulate from Poniente to the center.

González de Zárate has specified that the intervention "will be around" 550,000 euros and has made reference to similar actions in Estanquet and Orozco areas", where roundabouts have improved traffic. The councillor, before the current traffic light zebra crossing, has clarified that at present "when it is in red for the driver, the pedestrian is given a minute and a half", a time that, once the work is finished, will improve the flow of traffic.

The residents of Barceló-Ricardo Bayona neighbourhood have conveyed several proposals to the councilors. Among them, they have reported the problem caused by the rains precisely in the lower part of Venezuela Avenue. In this regard, González de Zárate has suggested that, taking advantage of the works, the “possibility” of installing a “water collection box” will be studied to complement the investment foreseen in the Participatory Budget.
