'A pie de calle' brings together dozens of residents of the neighborhood at the Ermita de Sanç, in a meeting with the mayor and councilors of the government team
L'Horta de Benidorm presents its suggestions to the City Council

Several dozen residents of l'Horta de Benidorm gathered yesterday afternoon at the Ermita de Sanç for a new event in the "On the Street" campaign promoted by the City Council through the Department of Citizen Participation.
The mayor, Toni Pérez attended the meeting and also the Councilors for Citizenship Participation, Street Cleaning, Mobility, and Parks and Gardens, Ana Pellicer; Luis Navarro, Francis Muñoz, and José Ramón González de Zárate; along with the Vice President of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Zamora; and the President of the l'Horta Neighborhood Association, Magdalena Baldó.
Residents demanded improvements for the neighbourhood, including the installation of streetlights, recycling bins, clearing of paths, increased security (especially on days when the flea market is open), and additional parking in the busiest areas. Furthermore, through its president, the association proposed to the members of the local government team that the number of urban buses be increased and that new bus stops be created.
The mayor collected the residents' requests and reminded them that, through the residents' association, many of the residents' requests can be "channelled," which must subsequently be "reported" by the municipal Technical Services following the administrative procedure.
Toni Pérez emphasised that the voting period for the Participatory Budget for 2026 is open and that "there are many" proposals that were being considered at the residents' meeting that "can now be voted on" through this means.
On the other hand, the mayor once again reiterated the "discriminatory situation" Benidorm suffers compared to other neighbouring municipalities. The failure of the Spanish Government to transfer the N-332 highway through the city requires "prior approval from the Ministry and the subsequent delay" for any action in the area.
Likewise, Toni Pérez announced that some of the residents' demands will be incorporated "in the specifications for the new waste contract" currently being drafted by the City Council.
After the residents' meeting, Ana Pellicer thanked the residents of l'Horta for "the great participation" in this "Street Level" event. She reiterated the City Council's "commitment" to "the needs of the citizens," while highlighting the "effectiveness" of Benidorm's Participatory Budget "by allocating at least 5% of the city's ordinary budget to citizen proposals."
Pellicer encouraged people to participate in the 2026 election through online voting or any of the City Council's administrative extensions. The process opened on August 7 and will close on September 30. He also noted that "any Benidorm resident" can actively participate by "contributing ideas and voting on them so that, together, we can improve Benidorm."
