600 participants from 17 clubs throughout the Valencian Community are expected
Benidorm will host this Sunday the VI Regatta of the Suma league, IX Trophy 'Mare de Déu del Sofratge'
Next Sunday, March 12, starting at 9:00 a.m., the sixth Regatta of Liga Suma de Banco Fijo, IX Mare de Déu del Sofratge Trophy, will be held in the waters of the Bay of Benidorm, organized by the Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community and the Benidorm Yacht Club and with the collaboration of the Department of Sports.
This morning, the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, presented the event flanked by the president of the Yacht Club, Jaume Samper, and the entity's rowing delegate, Jaume Mas, and has announced that a "record participation" of 600 sailors, belonging to "60 teams from 17 clubs" from the entire Valencian Community.
Cebreros has also announced that "there will be five" teams that will represent Benidorm, such as Anémona and the veterans and absolutes, in male and female categories, of Club Náutico Benidorm.
The head of Sports encouraged the entire population "to enjoy" "a magnificent day" that can be followed from the breakwater or the Castell, given that the regatta "will be located close to land and will be held at the height of the geyser.
In his speech, Jaume Samper thanked the support received by the City Council and "especially" by the Department of Sports in organizing this regatta and the rest of the competitions that the Club promotes throughout the year”. Samper advocated "for the defense of grassroots sports" as one of the banners of the entity.
For his part, Jaume Más specified that it is a track regatta, of "explosive force" with four 350 m long lanes and that the different modalities will compete in two formats, one of 700 m in categories of cadets and veterans and another of 1,400m.
Finally, Cebreros, Semper, and Más agreed on the importance of sporting events as a catalyst for the tourist destination, given that participants come accompanied by friends and family who can, in this way, discover and enjoy the wide possibilities offered by the city.
