From October 6 to 12, Benidorm's Poniente beach, Raúl Mesa pavilion, and Palau d'Esports L'Illa de Benidorm will host the International Veterans Volleyball Association (IVVA) Indoor and Beach World Championship, which will be in its tenth year this year. The event was presented this morning at City Hall by Sports Councillor Javier Jordá, IVVA Director Adam Kubala, and former local player Raúl Mesa.

The event will feature around 1,000 players from 35 countries and is expected to generate €1,680,000 in revenue for the city, according to the organisers. Javier Jordá said it was "an honour" to have Benidorm host this championship and invited "everyone to come and enjoy high-level volleyball, both indoors and on the beach."

Adam Kubala, for his part, described Benidorm's presence as "a great opportunity" and highlighted the participation of athletes from 35 countries on almost every continent." Kubala expressed confidence that the event "will be enjoyed by people" and announced his intention to establish a delegation in our city ", because it has great facilities and a perfect climate." "This year is special not only because of the impressive location, but because we are celebrating ten years of a dream that became a global movement," he added.

Raúl Mesa, for his part, recalled that 15 years ago, beach volleyball didn't even exist, "and now we are fulfilling the dream of becoming a benchmark, with a great academy and many titles, so we can be very proud." Mesa explained that registration, "which is progressing at a record pace," is still open at www.ivva.eu and is open to athletes aged 35 and over. "We hope it will be the most international edition of all those held," said Mesa, who expressed his desire for the championship to remain in the city for a few years."

However, both Mesa and Kubala indicated that registration "will close soon because almost all the spots are already taken." Therefore, along with the Sports Councillor, they encouraged those interested "to register soon if they want a spot."
