The association's traditional march will be held on October 26th

The island, the sea, and the color white are the stars of Anémona's new charity t-shirt against breast cancer

La isla, el mar y el color blanco protagonizan la nueva camiseta solidaria de Anémona contra el cáncer de mama

Anémona Marina Baixa, the self-help group for women with breast and gynaecological cancer in Benidorm and the surrounding area, presented its charity T-shirt this morning in El Torrejó for the large march to be held in the city on Sunday, October 26th, as part of the events commemorating International Breast Cancer Day.

The main novelty is the colour of the T-shirt, which will be predominantly white, as well as featuring the island of Benidorm, lines representing the sea, and the pink ribbon symbolising the fight against this disease. Anémona's name appears on the top of the garment; the two "A's" at the beginning and end are further apart, positioned at the sleeves. The T-shirt is now available for purchase at the price of 12 euros at Anémona's headquarters on Calle La Biga and all the activities organised by the association. The design is by Mari Carmen Zaragoza.

Anémona's president, María Botella, presented the design at a press conference, where she was accompanied by the councillors for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, and Sports, Javier Jordá, who expressed their support to the members of Anémona "so that this march, as is now traditional, will be a complete success." Also present at the event were representatives from sponsors who will be present at this twenty-third edition of the Solidarity March against breast cancer.

"The goal is to sell as many T-shirts as possible," María Botella explained, later explaining that the money raised from the sale is used to self-finance many of the activities the association provides, both therapeutic and supportive for women experiencing breast or gynaecological cancer, as well as to support research into this disease. "Much of what we do to help colleagues who are going through a difficult time can be achieved thanks to the support of the public and sponsors," stated the president of Anémona.

Furthermore, this year, the new feature is that 20% of the money raised will go to Geicam Breast Cancer Research. “It's a commitment to research. We know it's a small amount, but we can't do more. We're starting there,” said Botella, who also thanked the work of “the Equality, Sports, Festivals, Citizen Security, General Services, Urban Scene, Local Police, Civil Protection, etc.” The president of Anémona also singled out the sponsors and collaborators, “because you make it possible for us to do all this year after year.” She also thanked “those who buy the T-shirt and those who participate in the demonstrations of support, as well as all the colleagues who work hard to make the T-shirt reach everyone.”

The Sports Councillor closed the presentation by highlighting "the enormous effort you're making" after 23 years "together in this fight," and encouraged "everyone to buy the T-shirt and participate in the solidarity march."
