Benidorm will hire 38 unemployed young people for a year with European funds

02 September 2019
Benidorm contratará durante un año a 38 jóvenes desempleados a través de fondos europeos

Benidorm City Council will hire 38 unemployed young people under 30 for a year through a grant of European funds managed by the Generalitat Valenciana through LABORA under the plan 'Avalem Joves +' within the National Youth Guarantee System. A plan funded by the European Social Fund and which is divided into two programs for the recruitment of qualified and unqualified youth, called EMCUJU and EMPUJU.

The Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, recalled that "we have received from LABORA a subsidy of 609,129.22 euros for the development of both programs, less than half of the total amount requested." Therefore, during “the last weeks the technicians of the Agency of Employment and Local Development, in coordination with the Human Resources area, have worked to readjust the initial forecast to the subsidy finally granted, optimizing these resources to be able to hire the largest possible number of unemployed youth in Benidorm, which will finally be 38 against the 113 contracts of the previous year ”.

Specifically, 18 positions will be offered for qualified youth within the EMCUJU program, and 20 for the EMPUJU. Gómez explained that "when determining the positions, the needs transferred by the different municipal departments have been taken into account, taking as a reference the list published on June 30 by LABORA with the profiles of unemployed people in the city".

The councillor has pointed out that “once the readjustments have been made, and given the impossibility of meeting all the needs communicated by the departments, priority has been given to positions linked to the fields of social care and innovation and sustainability; as well as to reinforce different areas of municipal management and the care of the urban scene ”. In this way, the degrees and occupations offered are linked, among others, to the areas of Education, Social Welfare, Sports, ‘Smart Office’, Employment, Engineering and Urban Planning, Citizen Service and Intervention.

The specific profiles requested can be found on the municipal website at the link https://benidorm.org/es/ay Ayuntamiento/concejalias/empleo-y-desarrollo-local/area-empleo/avalem-joves-plus.

Gómez has indicated that the City Council "will shortly present to LABORA / Servef the offer of positions for registration." Subsequently, LABORA will send to the City Council the candidates registered in each degree or occupation requested. The councillor has clarified that "the offer may be modified if there are no candidates for the degrees or occupations initially requested." Once this process is completed, it will be a commission of assessment, formed by two local administration technicians and two representatives of the UGT and CCOO unions, which will be in charge of the selection process.

Finally, the Councilor for Employment and Local Development has reminded the youth of Benidorm that to participate in these programs three requirements must be met: being under 30, being unemployed and enrolled in LABORA and in the program of Youth Guarantee. This last procedure can be formalized in the Youth Information Center of the City of Benidorm.
