Servigroup Calypso, Fussion Look Estilistas and La Cava Aragonesa, first prizes in their categories
Benidorm rewards creativity in its Christmas Window Competition
The City Hall's Assembly Hall hosted the annual event that recognises originality, good taste, and customer service. Among those in attendance were the mayor, Toni Pérez, along with the Councilor for Commerce, Javier Jordá, other members of the council, the regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate, and representatives from Hosbec, Aida Marín, Aico, Juanjo Camarasa, and Abreca, Irene Carreño.
Javier Jordá welcomed the attendees, highlighting the "effort" and "great success" demonstrated in the decoration of the establishments and thanking them for "opening their doors every day." He noted that initiatives such as the Christmas Window Display Competition, or campaigns like BenidormTeDaMás and Benidorm Crece, promoted by the Department of Commerce, contribute to "a bigger and more open Benidorm."
In this year's Christmas Window Display Competition, 46 businesses participated. Fourteen entered in the Hotel category, 27 in Retail and Services, and 5 in Restaurants.
In the Hotel category, Servigroup Calypso took first prize. Second place went to Servigroup Diplomatic, and third to Agua Azul. In Retail and Services, Fussion Look Estilistas came in first, followed by Casa Cremà and Librería Contelles. Finally, in the Restaurant category, La Cava Aragonesa was the winner, followed by Arama Café and Marisquería el Puerto.
After the awards ceremony, Toni Pérez highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit of Benidorm, a city that "has broken records this year." He cited a record number of people registered with Social Security and the lowest unemployment rate in the Valencian Community. The mayor also highlighted the growth in the number of self-employed individuals locally, especially in the retail sector. He described these entrepreneurs as "heroes" who, in addition to creating wealth, "participate and collaborate" with the City Council to generate synergies.
Toni Pérez emphasised that yesterday [Thursday], the BenidormTeDaMás campaign surpassed the number of registered businesses from 2023, just four days after its launch. He encouraged residents to shop at local businesses rather than relying on online options. As an aside, the mayor confessed, "I've never bought a product online in my life."
Regarding the Christmas Window Display Competition, Toni Pérez advocated for continued incentives "so that Benidorm's businesses can further illuminate our city" and fill it "with light, colour, excitement, hope, and, why not, spending" during the Christmas season.
After the mayor's speech and with a group photo of all the award-winning establishments, the gala came to a close until next year.
