Benidorm invests 180,000 euros in solving problems of public lighting and asphalt in all neighborhoods

07 March 2017
Benidorm invierte 180.000 euros en resolver problemas de alumbrado público y asfalto en todos los barrios

The works, which include the asphalting of Alfonso Puchades, starts soon and will be finished at Easter

Subsidences will be eliminated in points like Ruzafa, Europe, Almendros and Invierno street

The City Council of Benidorm will invest in the next few weeks about 180,000 euros in solving problems in public street lighting and asphalt that emerged as a consequence of the last episodes of rainfall or became more evident during these rains. The Urban Escena councilor, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that these actions "are going to reach all the neighborhoods of Benidorm" and that "they will be finalized before Easter."

The first of these actions, with a budget of 59,905.31 euros, is the removal of embankments in streets and avenues as important as Almendros, Ruzafa, Carrasco, Invierno, Verano, Primavera, Calpe, Valencia, Asturias and Europe. De Zárate has pointed out that a priori the most problematic point to act for a matter of "traffic and mobility" are the streets: Ruzafa, Almendros and Carrascos, where they will begin to act next week, reason why drivers have been asked to circulate "with caution and speed limit" for the duration of the work.

The second performance is the asphalting of the slope of Alfonso Puchades avenue: from the avenue of Andalucía to Juan Llorca street, the surroundings of the well-known bend of Numer One. The councillor recalled that last year was already paved part of this avenue, but was not acted on this point waiting for the channeling work that is currently developing. Once completed this work that will prevent flooding, it will be able to finish off the asphalt of the whole avenue. Zárate has indicated that this action is valued at 60,447.18 euros, and stressed that, once this asphalted, "in A year and a half will have renewed all the firm of an axis as important as the avenue Jaime I, El Cruce and Alfonso Puchades. "

The last action is aimed at minimizing "one of the fundamental problems of Benidorm: public lighting and traffic light network". The mayor has clarified that the problems in both services are fundamentally due to "the antiquity" of the equipment, with wiring "that in some cases surpasses the 30 or 40 years". To alleviate this problem, 59,692.59 will be invested in the renovation of pipelines and wiring in the streets of Paris and Montecarlo - high part of the Rincón de Loix-; Asturias - La Cala-; Andalucía -Els Tolls-; Castellana and Goya -Colonia Madrid-, and Ruzafa.
