4,000 people follow the Eurocup final in l'Aigüera in a playful and celebratory atmosphere

Around 4,000 people followed the Euro Cup final on Sunday afternoon on the giant screen installed in the Julio Iglesias auditorium in Parque de l'Aigüera, in a day of fun and celebration in which the victory of the Spanish National Team put the best finishing touch to an event that ended without any notable incidents in terms of citizen security throughout the city as a whole. This was stated by the Councilor for Events and Citizen Security of the Benidorm City Council, Jesús Carrobles, who publicly thanked “the collaboration of the fans so that everything went in the best possible way.”

Likewise, Carrobles has highlighted that "the sportsmanship that was experienced at all times on the field by the two finalist teams was also transferred off the field to the vast majority of fans who witnessed the match in Benidorm", which made the final lived “in a festive atmosphere for everyone.”

The mayor recalled that, on the occasion of the Euro Cup final between Spain and England, "City Council, Local Police and National Police designed a preventive security device, with a reinforcement of agents from both bodies", which included cutting off traffic. in some streets to encourage the circulation of people both during match hours and for the subsequent celebration, as well as a CECOOR command post, with the presence of both police forces, at the Local Police Checkpoint. “As has already happened in other sporting events, this operation has allowed us to know at all times what was happening in the city and guarantee security, without having to make significant interventions in the absence of notable incidents despite the large concentration. of the public” registered both in the Rincón de Loix area and the urban centre, Carrobles pointed out.

As for the Spanish fans, the final match was broadcast live on the screens installed in the Julio Iglesias. The venue had to close access to the public at 8:28 p.m., half an hour before the scheduled start time of the meeting, when the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals, organizer of the event, announced that the capacity had been completed when it reached 4,000 assistants.

At the end of the match, the audience in the auditorium and those arriving from other parts of the city moved to the Plaza del Doctor Fleming to celebrate Spain's victory, where the traffic device that had been planned was put into operation, proceeding to the cuts on Herrerías, Primavera, Hondo streets and a section of Mediterranean Avenue to “give security to the people who participated in the celebration,” explained Jesús Carrobles.

During this time, only one health service had to be attended for possible trauma due to an accidental fall, which was not serious.

As far as the English fans are concerned, in Rincón de Loix it was also necessary to make traffic cuts on Gerona Street and another section of Mediterranean Avenue, to facilitate the safe passage of pedestrians along the road due to the high influx of people.

Starting at 1:30 in the morning, with no congregation of people at any point and assessing that there were no significant security risks, the security devices of the National and Local Police were lifted, leaving all traffic points fully reestablished at 2 in the morning.

Shortly after the end of the match, staff from the Street Cleaning service began to work both in the Julio Iglesias auditorium and other parts of the city where there were celebrations related to the Euro Cup final, which were clean and in perfect condition.
