Laboratory

The Municipal Laboratory was created in 1985 in response to a need to control the quality and health of drinking water, bathing water and food for human consumption in the municipality of Benidorm. Since 1988, it has been collaborating with the Department of Health and Consumer Affairs as a laboratory of the Community Health Center for the analytical control of coastal waters, as a preliminary step to convert Benidorm into the head of the region and headquarters of the Community Health Center of the Health department No. 18, later expanding to analytics for food control and food handlers.

It began its journey on the 2nd floor of the old Municipal Market. In 2005, the old Doctor's House was moved to the current premises, which was renovated to house the offices of the Department of Health, Municipal Laboratory and Department of Social Welfare.

In 2001 it was registered in the registry of laboratories in the field of public health, Decree 216/1999 on authorization and registration of laboratories.
