The cross-sectoral Xarxa Salut committee advances proposals to improve health in Benidorm

Benidorm City Council's plenary hall hosted a meeting of the Xarxa Salut committee this Wednesday to advance projects aimed at improving and promoting citizen health and community well-being, the organisation's main objectives. The city's mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Health Councillor, Ana Pellicer, chaired the meeting, which was also attended by other local government councillors, as well as representatives from various sectors related to health, social services, culture, and sports.
This intersectoral committee is part of the development of the Xarxa Salud strategy, a network of municipalities involved in promoting healthy environments and lifestyle habits to improve the general health of citizens. The city of Benidorm has been a member of this initiative for a year now. Ana Pellicer noted that the composition of the intersectoral committee "includes municipal representatives; Primary Care and Public Health professionals; representatives of schools, social, sports, and cultural organizations; and civic organizations coordinated and organized through associations or other organizations, to achieve the greatest possible representation of Benidorm's citizens and make the work of the Network more effective."
Among the points addressed at the meeting, the members of this intersectoral committee agreed to draft internal operating regulations and to establish a working group responsible for mapping the various health spaces in Benidorm and making them known to the public. Likewise, the healthcare professionals presented to the other members various programs to identify the Network's objectives and to present project proposals aimed at improving health in the municipality. These projects can now be formulated by the other stakeholders for study and presentation at subsequent meetings.
The Health Councillor invited all members to "actively participate and contribute all possible ideas, proposals, and suggestions", emphasising that "the more participatory this Xarxa Salut is, the more involvement and benefits it can bring to the public and Benidorm as a whole."
