On Sunday, August 29, a swimming triangle of 2 nautical miles will be developed in which up to 350 swimmers will be able to participate, complying with protocols and anti-Covid regulations.

Benidorm has opened the registration period for the XIX Popular Swimming Crossing # Benidorm2021, which will be held on a marked triangle on Sunday, August 29 and in which swimmers from the age of 18 can participate. Registrations can be formalized on the website www.chiplevante.com; once 350 swimmers have registered, the process will be closed.

The councilor for sports, Mariló Cebreros, has encouraged "to register and participate in this open water test in a unique bay like Benidorm, joining the party of the sea."

The crossing is organized by the Sports Department of the Benidorm City Council with the collaboration of the Benidorm Nautical Club. The start will take place from Mal Pas beach, where the test will end, which in this extraordinary edition takes place on a 2-nautical-mile marked triangle.

On Sunday 29 the start will be at 8:15 am and the participants will have a maximum of two hours to cover the distance of two nautical miles.

Cebreros has indicated that a category has been established for clubs and ten competition categories - Absolute, Senior A and B, Veterans A, B, C and D, Over 60, Functional Diversity and local swimmers, the first three being recognized classified.

At the time of registration, which can only be done electronically, payment of the same, of 24 euros, must be made by TVP, having to print and later provide the supporting form of the same. They will also need to download, fill out and submit the Covid Pledge. And provide these two documents, along with ID, at the time of removing the numbers, chips and hat that will take place on the esplanade of the Nautical Club of Benidorm on Sunday August 29 from 7 to 7:45 hours.
Numbers, chip and hat will be mandatory as well as the location buoy that all registered participants must provide, assuming disqualification for not wearing it. The use of swimsuits in this test will be governed by the FINA standard of January 16, 2010. During the development of this race, the Covid protocols will be in force, which must be complied with and respected at all times.
The swimmers who cross the final test control mat at Mal Pas Beach will receive an individual refreshment kit. The award ceremony will take place on the esplanade of the Club Náutico de Benidorm and the diplomas can be downloaded on the website of the event where the registration was made.
Mariló Cebreros concluded by pointing out that "swimming is a very efficient sport and a very healthy practice, and even more so at the moment and the Benidorm event is already one of the classics of summer competitions in the Mediterranean."
