The XII International Organ Festival starts in Benidorm with the Italian Gabriele Giacomelli
The 12th edition of Benidorm International Organ Festival will begin tomorrow at 8 p.m. in the parish church of Sant Jaume as usual. This first concert will feature the prestigious Italian organist and musicologist Gabriele Giacomelli, who will bring to attendees cultured and popular Italian music by authors from the 17th to 19th centuries.
The program will begin with the play 'Retirada del Emperador. Los Dominicos de España' by Domenico Zipoli. He will also perform ‘Sonata in Fa minore K466 and Sonata in Do maggiore K515’ by Domenico Scarlatti; ‘Concerto in Si minore per archi LV 133’ by Antonio Vivaldi; ‘Minuetto dal Quintetto per archi op. 11' by Luigi Boccherini; ‘Offertorio dai Vespri siciliani’ by Giuseppe Verdi; ‘Intermezzo da Cavalleria rusticana’ by Pietro Mascagni and ‘Antidotum tarantulae’ by Athasausis Kircher.
Gabriele Giacomelli has performed countless concerts in Europe, the United States and South America. He has also published articles on numerous musicians and is the author of three books on organs and the history of sacred music in Tuscany.
