The International Tourism Fair, FITUR 2024, in collaboration with Impulsa Igualdad, has awarded Benidorm as the most inclusive national destination in the first edition of the 'Fitur 4all Awards', an award created to recognize the efforts of destinations, companies and institutions in the development and promotion of accessibility in the tourism sector and that was born “to give visibility, thank and encouraging the commitment to move towards inclusive tourism.” The first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, has collected this award within the framework of Fitur4all from Fran Sardón, president of Impulsa Igualdad and Ángela Lozano, commercial manager of Ifema.

Pellicer thanked “this recognition in the first edition of these awards”, and assured that it “strengthens our commitment and work to make Benidorm a accessible destination”.
Benidorm has been the city awarded in the 'Inclusive National Destination' category with an “exemplary proposal that achieves a palpable inclusive reality in the destination and the tourist value chain”, as recognized by a jury made up of experts in the fields of tourism, accessibility and inclusion. The jury has also assessed that, through the Benidorm Tourist Accessibility Plan, the City Council “has developed a roadmap that consolidates them as an inclusive and accessible destination.”

Among the actions included in this Tourist Accessibility Plan, which aims to turn the city into an inclusive, accessible and socially responsible destination, guaranteeing equal opportunities for all people, is the creation of a tourist resources guide and accessible experiences; or the accessible hotels guide called 'Hoteles4all'. The document also includes a study of the city's tourist transportation; the development of a tourism social innovation laboratory with training and awareness days; as well as a city map in braille for people with vision problems, among other projects.

Before the awards ceremony, Benidorm presented some of the keys to this Tourist Accessibility Plan and has related various measures, actions and projects undertaken by the city to achieve a 100% inclusive destination.

It was during a round table of national destinations in Fitur 4all, in which Visit Benidorm recalled that the city was a pioneer more than two decades ago in the implementation of accessible beach points, to facilitate bathing for people with mobility problems. mobility. Since then, Benidorm has continued to innovate and advance in accessibility and inclusion, making both a strategic objective, also being one of the axes of the Smart Tourist Destination (DTI), in which the city was the first certified destination in the world.

To date, more than a hundred public and private tourist resources in Benidorm have the 'Tur4all' seal, which certifies their accessibility.

In addition to Benidorm in the 'Inclusive National Destination' category, this first edition of the 'Fitur 4all Awards' has also recognized Colombia, Port Aventura World and the Costa Rican Tourism Network in the 'International Destination', 'Inclusive Company' categories and 'Inclusive Organization', respectively.
