The works of the footbridge that will link Els Tolls with Palau d'Esports and the future Park of Séquia Mare begin
The construction works of the footbridge that will connect Els Tolls neighborhood from Italia street with the sports facilities of Palau d'Esports l'Illa and the future Séquia Mare Park have already begun. This project, valued at around 285,000 euros, will allow pedestrian saving of the ravine, creating a safe route parallel to the TRAM track.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, visited the area to check the progress of the works and know, from the mouth of the municipal technicians and the winning bidder, the final details of the project. Pérez has been accompanied by the councillor of Participación Ciudadana, Mª Jesús Pinto; the councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate; the spokesperson for Ciudadanos por Benidorm (CBM) and responsible for Sports, Arturo Carrillo; the councillor of Equality, Paquita Ripoll; the first and second vice presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Fernando Montes and Cristian Corraini; and representatives of Els Tolls Neighborhood Association.
Pérez recalled that this action is included in the municipal accounts of 2017 at the proposal of the neighbors within the Participatory Budget, and has stressed that "it is a very important project from the point of view of pedestrian and bicycle connectivity, and that will connect what will be the largest sports and leisure area in the city with the urban network ".
But in addition, one of the four designed axes will link with the intermodal station that the Generalitat Valenciana will build next to the bus terminal and that will provide service to the TRAM, and with the parking that the City Council plans to implement in the area in line with the Sustainable Parking Plan.
Each of the axles will have a width of 4 meters to facilitate the passage of emergency vehicles, while the steel footbridge will have 20 meters in length.
The execution period of this walkway and the pedestrian and bicycle routes that accompany it is three months.
