The mayor and the councillor of Employment visit the students hired in workshops, which have a subsidy of 528,000 euros from LABORA

Twenty young people are trained in gardening and environmental education with the 'T'Avalem Benidorm Sostenible' program

Veinte jóvenes se forman en jardinería y educación ambiental con el programa ‘T’Avalem Benidorm Sostenible’

Twenty young people from Benidorm are training in gardening and environmental education and interpretation within the Youth Guarantee program 'T'Avalem Benidorm Sostenible', through which the Benidorm City Council hires and trains them for a year. The activity of those hired, unemployed young people under 30 years of age, began at the beginning of last June at Pepita Puchades Employment Training Center and will continue until June 2025, combining theoretical training with practice.

This morning all of them received a visit from Mayor Toni Pérez and the Councilor for Employment, Mónica Gómez, who were interested in their impressions during the first weeks of the project and encouraged them to take advantage of this training opportunity, which aims to facilitate access to the labor market.

The City Council project has received from the Valencian Employment and Training Service-LABORA a subsidy of 528,256.80 euros from the European Social Fund+, which finances the hiring of the participating people and the teaching team that will be in charge of their training. The program is also complemented by a municipal contribution of 50,000 euros.

The twenty participants are divided into two groups of ten people each for the specialities of 'Auxiliary activities in nurseries, gardens and garden centres and Installation and maintenance of gardens and green areas' and 'Interpretation and environmental education'.

The mayor recalled during the visit that 'T'Avalem' is “a mixed employment and training program, in which on the one hand the students receive theoretical and practical training and on the other they carry out work of public interest, applying everything they have learned.” . Toni Pérez stressed that "this program is aimed at young people between 16 and 30 years old and is a great opportunity to improve their employability or expand their knowledge in a new speciality." “For this reason, we have encouraged them to work hard on this training, to take advantage of the opportunity, so that it can be useful for their future working lives,” he added.

Likewise, the first mayor has assessed that "in this edition, the two training specialities are directly related to sustainability", a topic "of total relevance and to which public and private action must be directed from now on" and that, in his opinion, judgment, “it opens up a huge range of possibilities for the young people who are going to participate in the project.”

During the year of the program, the two groups receive theoretical training at the 'Pepita Puchades centre itself, and the practical part will be carried out in municipal buildings, facilities and public spaces, depending on the needs of the moment.

Specifically, the students of 'Auxiliary activities in nurseries, gardens and garden centres and Installation and maintenance of gardens and green areas' will carry out the project of a Mediterranean garden next to the Patiñodrome, located in Salt de l'Aigua area.

Regarding the 'Interpretation and environmental education' workshop, those hired will carry out an environmental education project with the help of the Department of the Environment.
