Mayor Toni Pérez has highlighted "the very high quality" of the tapas and the "total commitment to value our gastronomy"
Twelve establishments take part in the XII Benidorm Tapas and Pinchos Contest from June 10 to 19
A total of twelve establishments in Benidorm will take part in the XII Tapas and Pinchos Contest, the third activity of this year's Gastronomic Benidorm, which will be held from the 10th to the 19th of this month and which has been presented this afternoon at the Development Center Tourist (CDT) Domingo Devesa.
Before the presentation of these conferences, the tasting of the tapas has taken place by the professional jury, which is made up of Pablo Montoro (Masterchef contestant), Emmanuelle Barón (head of the restaurant with two Michelin stars Bonamb), José Puentes (CDT kitchen trainer) and Manuel Ruiz Girona (godfather of Benidorm Gastronomico 2022).
The twelve participating restaurants will be: Aurerrá Pintxos, El Mesón, El Mesón Playa, La Brasería Aurrerá, La Cava Aragonesa, La Tabernita del Centro, La Tapería Aurrerá, Los Peces, La taberna Andaluza, La tabernita del Sur, Wine On by Aurrerá and Bramble.
At 12:30 the presentation of the contest by the mayor Toni Pérez, and the president of America, Francisco Javier del Castillo, has begun, before the tasting of the tapas by the attending public. The mayor has highlighted that this event "is the most consolidated of Gastronomic Benidorm" and, in that sense, has stressed the "total commitment to value our gastronomy and everything that our chefs and hoteliers do".
Pérez has recalled that the Benidorm Gastronomic events are kept out of the high season calendar "so that it attracts attention when the occupation of the city is not the highest and the hoteliers are more clear in their activity".
About tapas and pinchos, the mayor has stressed that "the quality is very high", so now "we just have to wait for the verdict of the jury and the public, which we will know when this twelfth edition ends"
The president of Abreca, for his part, has confirmed that "the expectations of tapas have been exceeded in terms of quality, raw materials, imagination and creativity", for which he has reiterated "my congratulations to the chefs for their work because without them we would be nobody and thanks to them we are pointers”.
The next appointment of Benidorm Gastronomico 2022 will be the 1st Cocktail Contest, which will take place from September 23 to October 2. The last activity of this year will be the XI Conference of the Rice of the Earth, from October 14 to 23.
