The matches of the Pilota Champions will be played on November 4, 5 and 6
Benidorm will be one of the sub-venues of the 2022 International Llargues Tournament
The Councilor for Sports of Benidorm City Council, Mariló Cebreros, and the president of the International Hand Ball Confederation (CIJB), Alberto Soldado, held a working meeting today to study formulas for mutual collaboration in the future.
Both parties have closed an agreement whereby Benidorm will host the 2022 Llargues Champions League, which will be played by the best clubs in Europe next November.
Benidorm, Councilor Cebreros highlighted, "has an extraordinary covered court for playing the ball game, such as Carrer de la Pilota José Pérez Devesa, together with Palu d'Esport l'Illa de Benidorm", which will be the stage where the competition day of the International Llargues Tournament will take place. On the 4th, 5th and 6th of November, the competition will be held, the headquarters of which is the Alicante town of Sella.
In the 2021 edition, clubs from the Netherlands (Leeuwarden), Belgium (Thielain), France (Maubeuge), a team from Euskadi and five teams from the Valencian Community fought for the European title:#Benidorm, Sella, Relleu, La Vall de Laguar and Parcent, which was the team that was proclaimed champion.
Future collaborations for 2023
In the meeting in Benidorm between the president of the CIJB and the Councilor for Sports, other possible collaborations have also been put on the table, although these will be studied in more depth for the 2023 season.
Both Soldier and Cebreros have agreed that the meeting has been very fruitful since it has opened the doors to a joint path in the commitment to the ball by hand and its international projection.
